The breathtaking action in the Big Bash League continued on Wednesday as Melbourne Renegades and Brisbane Heat faced off in the 10th match of the season at Simonds Stadium, Geelong. Brisbane captain Jimmy Peirson won the toss and elected to bat first. They posted 137/8 in their allotted 20 overs as Pierson played a captain’s knock. During Renegades’ chase, Andre Russel lit up the stadium with his monstrous six.

The incident took place on the last ball of the third over bowled by Michael Neser. Neser had already picked two crucial wickets in the first two balls of the over as he dismissed Nic Maddinson and Jonathan Wells. Russel who had just arrived at the crease and was facing the fourth ball of his innings smashed the last ball for a gigantic six over deep mid-wicket sending the ball over the roof.

Heat were 75/3 after 10.1 overs when they suffered a dramatic collapse to be 108/8 in 18.1 overs. Seeing his team in trouble, captain Jimmy Pierson took it upon himself to take his team out of trouble with his knock of 45 off just 30 balls smashing six fours in his innings. Courtesy of Pierson’s knock, Heat reached the total of 137/8 after the end of their innings.

Tom Rogers was the pick of the bowlers for Renegades who picked up 4/23 in 4 overs while Akeal Hosein picked up 3/26 in his 4 overs.
