Ahead of the three-match T20I series, Australia T20I skipper Aaron Finch has praised former India skipper Virat Kohli. The former has said that only a brave man can write off a player such as Kohli at any stage of his career. Recently, the former India skipper got back to his form during the Asia Cup 2022 as he hit two fifties and a much-awaited 71st century.

Before this, he had a rough period with the bat from Indian T20 League 2022 to India’s tour of England in July this year. During this phase, he could only manage three half-centuries. However, things have now changed and Finch said that Kohli is one of the greatest players of all time. The Australia skipper added that Kohli has developed and grown a lot in T20 cricket.

“You’d be a very very brave man to write off Virat at any stage. He has shown for 15 years now, that he is one of the greatest players of all time,” Finch said in a virtual press conference ahead of the first T20I against India.

“Particularly in T20 cricket, he is someone who has developed his game and grown his game over for such a long period. You are always trying to prepare to the best of your ability when you are coming up against Virat,” he added.

After a while, you get comfortable with criticism: Aaron Finch

The 20-20 World Cup 2021-winning skipper also spoke about his poor form with the bat. Recently, he announced his retirement from ODI cricket as he could only score a little more than 160 runs in 14 games this year. Meanwhile, talking about his T20I form, he said that he is in good shape in the shortest format of the game.

“I think over a long period of time, you get pretty comfortable with criticism and stuff like that. I feel in T20 cricket, my form has been really good over a period of time now. I think if you separate the ODI form with T20I form, then it is completely different. They are different formats of the game, we are just really excited to be here to play these three games,” Finch said.
