Star India wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul is currently out of the national team due to recurring injuries. Despite being selected for the ongoing Asia Cup 2023, Rahul had to miss out on the initial games of the tournament due to a niggle. The Indian team management decided to go ahead without him as he is yet to achieve match fitness.

According to India head coach Rahul Dravid, KL Rahul will miss the first two games of the tournament against Pakistan and Nepal. However, his further participation will depend on his fitness test. The test is scheduled to take place on Monday, September 4, at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. Meanwhile, ahead of the fitness assessment, a picture of KL Rahul is roaming around on social media.

In the viral picture, Rahul can be seen at Ghati Subramanya Swamy Temple. Rahul, along with his wife and Bollywood actress Athiya Shetty, visited the temple to offer prayers. Notably, the Ghati Subramanya Swamy Temple is situated 80 kilometres away from Bengaluru in Doddaballapura, Karnataka, India. It is a significant place of worship for the Hindu gods Kethu, Narshimha, and Karthikeya.

When will KL Rahul make a comeback for the Indian squad?

The Indian Cricket Team and fans are eagerly waiting for KL Rahul’s comeback. However, his selection in the Asia Cup and ODI World Cup will depend on the result of his fitness test. According to the latest news reports, Rahul has to prove his basic fitness before passing the Yo-Yo test to get a medical clearance certificate. After that, he might be available to play.

It’s worth noting that India will have to announce their ODI World Cup squad by Tuesday, September 5. Ahead of that, KL Rahul will need to prove his fitness in order to be in the 15-member squad. The ODI World Cup will kick off just two weeks after the completion of the Asia Cup in 2023. The marquee event will kick off with England taking on New Zealand at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on October 5.
