India pacer Jasprit Bumrah has been out of cricket for a long time since the T20Is against Australia in 2022. Now reports have emerged that Bumrah could be back in India colours during the T20I series against Ireland which will be held in August. According to a report by News 18 CricketNext Bumrah has been getting better and it looks like he could get back to playing for the Men in Blue very soon. The fast bowler underwent back surgery in March and then has been doing rehab at the National Cricket Academy (NCA).

If Bumrah is up and running for the Ireland T20I series, then he can slowly ease himself back into cricket before the Asia Cup and the ODI World Cup. The Asia Cup starts from August 31 while the World Cup is slated to be held during the months of October and November. A senior Indian Cricket Board official said that Bumrah is showing positive signs and a comeback against Ireland is looking imminent.

Nitin Patel and Rajinikanth have worked closely with Jasprit Bumrah -Indian Cricket Board official

“Jasprit Bumrah is looking very good for the Ireland series in August this year. It will be a big boost to the Indian cricket team and will also allow Bumrah time in the middle after the long injury lay-off. If everything stays on course, a Bumrah at peak fitness is likely to take field,” The official stated. From the time Bumrah has been at the NCA, he has been watched like a hawk by VVS Laxman the NCA head and Nitin Patel who leads the Sports science and medicine department there.

Apart from these two, S Rajinikanth the physio at NCA has been working with Bumrah to ensure that his rehabilitation and recovery remain a smooth process. It is not a first for him as he has worked with Shreyas Iyer and Hardik Pandya and helped them recover from serious injuries as well.

“Nitin Patel and Rajnikanth have been working very closely with Bumrah and keeping him on track during the rehab period at the NCA. Both are very experienced and don’t want to take any chance with Bumrah in what is a very crucial white-ball year and also the start of the new World Test Championship cycle,”Β  The official added.
