‘Naseem Shah made a mockery of Azam Khan’ – Fans slam Naseem over his body shaming act in BPL

The Bangladesh Premier League has been seeing some high-scoring encounters in Bangladesh. The Khulna Tigers and the Comilla Victorians squared off against each other, and this enthralled the fans as it turned out to be a high-scoring encounter. Scores of 200 were made by both sides involved. The game though took centre stage for another issue altogether.
An unsavoury incident took place in the 19th over of the first innings. Naseem Shah imitated Azam Khan’s walking style when he came to the crease. Naseem tried to rile up Azam and it seemed that he wanted to get into a confrontation with him. But Azam was very calm and did not want to snowball the issue and also tried to shove Naseem away as he did not want the incident to spiral.
Comilla Victorians won the match by 7 wickets
This weird incident from Naseem took the internet by storm. Fans were quick to target the 24-year-old pacer. Some fans said that the Cricket Governing body should look into this incident and ensure that such things do not occur in future. “I believe that the World Governing Body should have a look at this. It’s called body shaming, not teasing,” a user said.
Azam made a quickfire unbeaten 12 off 4 balls coming down the order. Tamim Iqbal’s beautifully orchestrated innings of 95 off 61 balls, with 11 fours and four sixes, and skipper Shai Hope also made an unbeaten 91 off 55 balls, with five fours and seven sixes, meant that the Tigers made their way to 210-2 in their 20 overs.
In the run chase, the Victorians got to the target in 18.2 overs with ten balls to spare on the back of Mohammad Rizwan, who scored 73 off 39 balls at the top of the order, with eight fours and four sixes. Johnson Charles, the big-hitting West Indies batter, won the game for his side on the back of an unbeaten 107 off 56 balls, with five fours and 11 sixes. The fans got their money’s worth in the end.
