Bangladesh’s full-time skipper, Tamim Iqbal has been ruled out of the three-match ODI series against India. In his absence, Litton Das, who has been in great form with the bat, will lead the Bangladesh side in the three ODIs.

Ahead of the first ODI, Das spoke to the press about leading the team and is looking forward to giving a tough challenge to a strong Indian team.

“First of all, I would like to thank the BCB for giving me such a huge opportunity. I am very excited.

“I will try to give my best. Obviously, India are a big team but we are also a good team at home,” Liton told reporters ahead of the series today.

Two of their important players in Tamim Iqbal and Taskin Ahmed won’t be playing the first ODI but Liton Das believes that the team have enough talent to make up for that.

“Definitely we will miss two of our important cricketers but we still have enough good players in our team,” the 28-year-old added.

Das, later, also shed light on leading the Bangladesh Cricket Team for the first time in one-day internationals.

“The first one was more of a vacation (captaincy). I got the news of the captaincy this time as you guys got. Every player’s dream is to play for the national side and the biggest dream is to lead the country,” said Liton Das.

India, too, have been dealt with a major blow as Mohammed Shami has been ruled out of the series due to a hand injury. Umran Malik has replaced him in the ODI Squad.

Shami’s availability in the Test series is also under the scanner. However, it’s not confirmed whether he has been officially ruled out of the Tests or not. The first ODIs between India and

Bangladesh will be played on 4th, 7th, and 10th of December 2022.
