The 5th day of the Ahmedabad Test headed into a boring draw. But there was enough action on the field to keep the spectators on the ground and the fans entertained. As the match was on the verge of ending, the Indians decided to have some fun. Both Cheteshwar Pujara and Shubman Gill bowled an over each, which left the fans in splits.

While Gill bowled off-spin, Cheteshwar Pujara amazed one and all with his leg spin. The two bowled with great control and did not give any full-tosses or boundary balls. Part time bowlers bowling in Test cricket is a rare sight and today was one such occasion.

These were some of the light-hearted moments on the field. The conditions have been very hot and atrocious. Both sides have had some long days in the field. In some ways it was a fun end to the Test series.

When Pujara and Gill were bowling, there were fun reactions from the likes of Ravichandran Ashwin and Virat Kohli. The likes of Ravindra Jadeja and others were stunned. For the Indian team, there has not been a proper part time bowler for a long time now. Hanuma Vihari bowls off-spin but he is not in the scheme of things, at present.

The pitch at the Narendra Modi stadium was well rolled and the pitch was perfect to bat on. Both teams fully exploited the conditions and scored big totals in the first innings. Australia notched a massive total of 480 runs in the first innings.

The Kangaroos got to this massive score on the back of Usman Khawaja’s 180 off 422 balls with 21 fours. In response, India scored 571 runs with Gill setting the foundation. He played a sumptuous knock of 128 off 235 balls with 12 fours and one six.

Virat Kohli dazzled one and all with his stroke-play and scored a cracking 186 off 364 balls with 15 fours. The former India captain got back to his best and showed the world he was still hungry.

Let us take a look at the reactions on Ashwin’s Tweet on Pujara bowling in fourth Test:
