India and Australia drew swords at Visakhapatnam in the second ODI. The Men in Blue were put on the back foot straightaway as Shubman Gill got out. He played a rash shot to a wide delivery from Starc. Rohit Sharma got his eye in, but he perished after doing the same. Suryakumar Yadav was no match as he fell lbw for a golden duck to the left-arm pacer.

KL Rahul also was out lbw to Starc after scoring just 9 off 12 balls with one four. Sean Abbott was introduced into the attack and picked up Hardik Pandya courtesy of Steve Smith’s stunning catch. Virat Kohli tried to weather the storm and played some crisp shots but he got out to Nathan Ellis for just 31 off 35 balls with four fours.

Mitchell Starc finished with figures of 5-53 in his eight-over spell for Australia

Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel tried to revive the innings with some sort of partnership, but it was to no avail as Jadeja fell to Ellis for just 16 off 39 balls with on four. After that, Kuldeep Yadav and Mohammed Shami went back to the hut as well. They were dismissed by Abbott.  Axar offered some resistance with his unbeaten run a ball 29 with one four and two sixes. Both his sixes came off Starc who was the hero of the match for his figures of 5-53 in his eight-over spell.

Australia demolished India on a pitch which had rain and resembled English conditions. This was Starc’s 9th five-wicket haul in ODIs. The Kangaroos had taken revenge on the Men in Blue for the Mumbai loss. This was the fourth-lowest total against Australia at home and third lowest against Kangaroos in ODIs.

In the second innings, the right-hand left-hand combination tore into the lifeless Indian bowling attack and put them out of commission. Australia were approaching the game as a T20 game and were 66-0 in six overs. The two put on an unbeaten partnership of 118 to finish the match.  Head scored 51 off 30 balls and Marsh scored 66 off 36 balls.
