‘Aap toh Haris Rauf nikle’ – Fans react as Islamabad United bowlers fail to hold momentum to hand over 3-wicket win to Quetta Gladiators in PSL 2024

Abrar Ahmed and Mohammad Wasim were brilliant with the ball.

Quetta Gladiators and Islamabad United were involved in a thrilling game in the PSL 2024. The two sides were brilliant with the ball and became responsible for a low-scoring game which saw Quetta as the winning side. The duo of Rilee Rossouw and Mohammad Amir held their nerves and helped the Gladiators to pull off the run chase despite losing some wickets.

Islamabad United saw a brilliant start from Alex Hales who played a cameo. While his 21(9) was a good start and Agha Salman batted well from his end for 33(23), other batters were rather too poor. Although the wicket was not easy to bat on, the batters from United did not show enough application in the middle. The strike rotation was poor and a lot of dot balls were played.

Mohammad Wasim and Abrar Ahmed bowled very well. While Wasim came as the fifth bowler in the middle overs, he did a fantastic job to contain the runs. He finished with figures of 3/20 in his four overs. Abrar was brilliant with the ball as he claimed three important wickets and conceded just 18 runs. 139 was not going to be easy on a slow wicket.

Quetta Gladiators extend their winning run

Gladiators had a good start to a low-scoring run chase, thanks to a fiery start from Jason Roy. The opener scored 37(18) and put his side in a firm position in the game. Shadab Khan and Naseem Shah bowled very well.

Shadab claimed two wickets and conceded just 20 runs. Naseem finished with figures of 2/32. However, Rilee was joined by Mohammad Amir who guided the Gladiators safely in the run chase. Towards the end, United could not claim the wickets. Amir thrived under pressure and hit some crucial blows. Rossouw played a brilliant anchoring innings under pressure and saw his team home. Quetta Gladiators won the game by just three wickets.
