The second match of the 20-20 World Cup took place between Afghanistan and England in Perth. The coin went England’s way as they chose to bowl. Rahamanullah Gurubaz departed early as he was scalped by Mark Wood.

Hazaratulllah Zazai was the next to go off the bowling of Ben Stokes. This happened in the third ball of the sixth over. Liam Livingstone was part of this dismissal, and he played his part by taking a stunning catch.

He has played a lot of T20 games for the Perth Scorchers here in Perth and so this ground is like a second home for him. Stokes bowled a short ball to keep it away from the radar of the left-hander. Hazratullah looks to slice the ball behind square.

Livingstone ran across from deep cover and he flung himself at full length to get the ball inches above the ground. This catch gives strong competition to the one Glenn Philips took in the earlier match against Australia.

The match situation as it stands at the moment is that Afghanistan are a 112 all out in their 20 overs. batting first. Sam Curran made headlines with a five-wicket haul.

This is a group one match that is played in Western Australia. The group consists of New Zealand, England, Sri Lanka, Ireland, Afghanistan, and Australia.

New Zealand won the game against Australia by 89 runs

Earlier in the day, Australia were handed an 89-run hammering by New Zealand which was the biggest win by a full-member side in World Cups. This was also New Zealand’s first win in Australia since 2009.

111 was also Australia’s lowest total at home, which eclipsed the 127 they got in 2010 against Pakistan at Melbourne.

Devon Conway and Mitchell Santner were the chief architects of the win for the Kiwis as Conway made a splendid 92 from 58 balls with seven fours and two sixes. Santner was destructive with the ball as he scalped 3 wickets for 31 runs in his four overs. Tim Southee also picked up 3 wickets from his short spell of 2.1 overs.
