After days of suspense, Pakistan announced their squad for the ODI World Cup 2023. Despite a poor outing in the Asia Cup 2023, team management didn’t hit the panic button and remained with almost the same team. One of the major changes is the inclusion of pacer Hasan Ali in the squad. He has replaced young pacer Naseem Shah.

Naseem, who picked up an injury during the Asia Cup 2023, however, is likely to remain out of action for a few weeks, which forced team management to go with a replacement. Reacting to his omission, Naseem expressed his emotions. In a social media post, he said, “With a heavy heart, I’m sharing that I will not be part of this amazing team that will be representing our beloved country. While I’m disappointed, I believe everything is in Allah’s hands. InshaAllah, I will be on the field very soon. Thank you to all my fans for the prayers.”

Apart from him, pacer Haris Rauf also got injured during the tournament. However, he has been declared fit for the marquee event. It’s worth noting that Pakistan has also picked three travelling reserves, including spinner Abrar Ahmed, pacer Zaman Khan, and wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Harris. They will travel to India along with the main squad.

Pakistan faces a roadblock ahead of the ODI World Cup 2023!

The Pakistani cricket team has encountered an obstacle on its journey to the upcoming ODI World Cup in India. The team is currently awaiting the issuance of Indian visas, and these delays have compelled the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to cancel its pre-tournament team bonding trip to Dubai.

Initially, the squad, led by Babar Azam, had plans to depart for the UAE the following week for a brief stay. They intended to proceed to Hyderabad for their first warm-up match against New Zealand scheduled for September 29 via this route. However, they had to make changes due to visa issues.

Meanwhile, the inaugural warm-up match between Pakistan and New Zealand will be held in Hyderabad, but it will take place without spectators. This decision was made due to concerns about the lack of assurance from the local police regarding adequate security measures. This concern arises as the match coincides with two major religious festivals occurring in the city on the same day.
