As India and West Indies continued to battle it out in Dominica, the Men in Blue continued to dictate the proceedings there. Yashasvi Jaiswal carried on with his merry way as he batted through Day 2 on an unbeaten 143 off 350 balls with 14 fours. While the spotlight was on the Mumbai batter, people also had their eyes on Virat Kohli and how he played.

Kohli came to the crease at the fall of Shubman Gill’s wicket. He looked a little edgy initially but found his feet and form as the innings progressed. In the penultimate ball of the 109th over on Day 2, Kohli finally got his first boundary, and it was after a long wait of 81 balls. But when he played the shot, it was as crisp as ever. With the full flow of the bat, he played a gorgeous cover drive and also punched the air with his fists which showed how much it meant to him.

Here is the video:

Ravichandran Ashwin picked up 5-60 with the ball in the first innings

The former Indian skipper ended Day 2 on an unbeaten 36 off 96 balls with one four. For India, there was a shift in momentum after they ended Day 1 at 80-0. Rohit Sharma also provided good company to Jaiswal as he brought up his 10th hundred in Tests as he waded through tough periods but made his way to a good knock of 103 off 221 balls with 10 fours and two sixes.

The Indian skipper looked like he would convert his innings into a big one. But it wasn’t to be as debutant Alick Athanaze scalped his wicket.  In the first innings, West Indies were all out for 150 as the batters did not put up much of a fight. Athanaze was the only one who showed some resistance as he made a stroke-filled 47 off 99 balls with six fours and one six. Veteran off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin put the hosts in a web as he picked up 5-60 in his spell of 24.3 overs.

The ace off-spinner received great support as Ravindra Jadeja picked up 3-26 in his 14-over spell. Shardul Thakur and Mohammed Siraj picked up a wicket each in what was a very polished bowling performance from the Men in Blue. With India in a dominant position, they will look to tighten the leash on the West Indies.
