The 24th match of the International League T20 took place between the Gulf Giants and the MI Emirates at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. The Giants won the toss and chose to bowl. The Emirates ended up on 139 in their innings of 19.5 overs. Muhammad Waseem made 29 off 25 balls, with two fours and two sixes at the top of the order. He was dismissed by Chris Jordan. Wicketkeeper batter Nicholas Pooran scored 42 off 39 balls, with three fours and three sixes. He was dismissed by Shimron Hetmyer off Rehan Ahmed.
Chris Jordan picked up 3-12 in his 3.5 over spell and David Wiese picked up 2-14 in his four overs spell. They were the pick of the bowlers for the Giants. In the second innings, Wicketkeeper batter Tom Banton got the Giants off to a good start as he scored 45 off 39 balls, with five fours and one six. James Vince was the first to go after making 26 off 25 balls, with two fours. Gerhard Erasmus made 20 off 16 balls, with three fours, and was the next to fall.
The game was a low-scoring thriller at the ILT20
Chris Lynn made 28 off 26 balls, with three fours and was the fourth wicket to fall. Wiese was run out in the 18th over with the score at 129-5. In the last over, there was Hetmyer at the crease with the Giants needing 11 off the last over. Jordan Thompson bowled the last over. The Giants needed 2 off the final ball of the 20th over and Thompson bowled a full toss. Hetmyer smashed the ball over the deep midwicket for a high and handsome six to help the Giants win a thriller.
Dwayne Bravo was the best bowler for the Emirates as he picked up 2-32 in his four overs. Trent Boult did not pick up a wicket but gave away only 14 runs in his four overs, which was a very miserly spell. The Giants, after this win, are sitting pretty at the second position on 12 points, with five wins and one loss. The Emirates, on the other hand, have four wins and three losses to their name and are in the third position with 9 points.
