The 20-20 World Cup 2022 is just around the corner. The mega event is set to be played in Australia in October later this year. Here we take a look at prominent players from the Men in Blue who might not make it to the T20 squad for the 20-20 World Cup to be held in Australia later this year.
The experienced off-spinner has been in good white-ball form, and he had put in good performances to earn a national call-up back into coloured clothing for the 2021 T20 World Cup. Even though the team had a lacklustre campaign, he picked up six wickets in three games and he did not go for too many runs in three matches.
Ashwin was also picked for the team for another reason. The Men in Blue had a lack of off-spinners in the team and were forced to go back to the experienced Ashwin. But come the 20-20 World Cup down under in 2022, Ashwin might not be the preferred option as India has the choices of Washington Sundar and Deepak Hooda.
Hooda had picked up wickets with the ball in the ODI leg of the West Indies series. He has also shown his ability with the bat, and recently slammed a big century against Ireland. Washington Sundar has had a good county season as well so far.
