Watch: Josh Brown lights-up Gabba with his six gigantic sixes during Match 25 of BBL

The exhilarating action in the Big Bash League 2022-23 continued as Brisbane Heat and Sydney Sixers locked horns in the 25th Match of the season at the Gabba, Brisbane. Brisbane Heat captain Jimmy Peirson won the toss and elected to bat first. After Brisbane Heat lost their opener Colin Munro in the first over itself. Josh Brown took it upon himself to lead the charge for his team.

He played a sensational knock of 62 off just 23 balls smashing 4 fours and 6 sixes in his innings. Brown was involved in a 73-run stand with Nathan McSweeney in just 33 balls which put Sydney Sixers on the backfoot. The highlight of Brown’s innings was the six gigantic sixes from his bat which he launched to all parts of the ground.

After Brown’s dismissal, McSweeney continued his brilliant innings as he got involved in a 62-run stand with Sam Billings for the fourth wicket. His innings was ended with a runout as he departed after scoring 84 off 51 balls with the help of eight fours and three sixes. Captain Peirson played a brilliant cameo of 19 off 13 balls to help his side reach a huge total of 224/5 in their allotted 20 overs.

Jordan Silk kept Sydney Sixers in the game till 19th over

The sixers’ chase got off to a great start as openers Josh Philippe and James Vince added 56 runs for the first wicket in 27 balls. After a good start, Sixers’ middle order faltered in the middle overs and lost three wickets in quick succession.

Jordan Silk’s quick-fire knock of 41 off 23 balls kept the hopes of Brisbane alive. However, after his dismissal in the 19th over of the innings no other batters could take their team closer to the target. As a result, Brisban Heat won the match by 15 runs.

Michael Neser was the pick of the bowlers for Heat as he scalped three wickets for 41 runs in 4 overs while Mark Steketee and Ross Whiteley picked up two wickets each. Josh Brown was awarded player of the match for his breathtaking knock of 62 off 23 balls.
