The 12th season of the Big Bash is going at an unprecedented rate. The current season has Adelaide Strikers at the top with 6 points in 4 matches. Melbourne Renegades with 6 points in 4 matches are right on the heels of the leaders.

The Australian domestic T20 league has been known to bring out some incredible fielding efforts in the past. The 14th match between Hobart Hurricanes and Melbourne Renegades produces one such moment that is going viral on social media.

The highlight of the match took place in the first innings when Shadab Khan was dismissed by a great fielding effort at the boundary line. Renegades’ player Jake Fraser- McGurk standing at the deep midwicket ran towards his right to grab the ball and throw it back in the air while moving from outside the boundary line to inside and completing the catch again.

The commentators had already declared the shot to be a six and had to swallow their words after McGurk showed the incredible presence of mind to get the Hurricanes batter out.

Here’s the video:

As for the game, the incredible effort doesn’t translate well into a Renegades win. After winning the toss and deciding to bat first, Hurricanes put 122 runs on the scoreboard thanks to 28 from James Neesham and 21 from Nathan Ellis.

In reply, Renegades faltered at the get-go and lost their three wickets at just 11 runs. Jonathan Wells (26) and Will Sutherland (40) tried to get the game into their favour but in the end, failed by 8 runs.

As a result of this win, Hurricanes have moved to 4th in the league table with 4 points in 4 matches. Renegades meanwhile remain on 2nd with 6 points in 4 matches.
