Big Bash League 2022-23: Top five performers of the tournament

The BBL 12 final will be played between Perth Scorchers and Brisbane Heat on Saturday.

Big Bash League season 12 (BBL 12) is set to get a champion on upcoming Saturday. The two finalists are Perth Scorchers and Brisbane Heat. Four-time champions Scorchers beat Sydney Sixers by seven wickets in the qualifier to make it into the finale. Meanwhile, the Heat also beat Sixers in the challenge and knocked them out of the tournament.

Going to the final, the table toppers Scorchers led by Ashton Turner are on a four-match winning streak. On the other hand, the Heat has turned the table around. Jimmy Peirson-led Heat have barely managed to qualify for the playoffs. Although, are also on a three-match winning streak.

BBL season 12 will be remembered for Steven Smith’s centuries, but this is the list of the top five players who led their team throughout the tournament.

The 25-year-old allrounder has stunned everyone with his amazing performances. He has been chosen as Player of the tournament award at Cricket Australia Award nights. In 14 matches Short has scored 458 runs with a strike rate of 144.47 and an average of 35. Short is the leading run-getter of the tournament and has been in the top three for the second straight season. Although, Short has also stunned opponents with his bowling skills. He has picked 11 wickets in the tournament with the best figure of 3-14.
