Veteran wresting journalist picks wild choice as surprise entrant for Royal Rumble 2024

Wrestling fans around the world have been buzzing since WWE put out a huge surprise at the end of Survivor Series 2023. CM Punk made his return to the company nearly a decade after leaving the company in acrimony.

Veteran wrestling journalist Bill Apter has come up with a wild choice as WWE moves into Royal Rumble mode. WWE kicks off their New Year with the Royal Rumble event which is a huge PLE on the road to WrestleMania.

Forgotten WWE star set for a comeback?

Bill Apter was speaking about the upcoming WWE Royal Rumble event to be held early next year. The 78-year-old was live on the UnSKripted show for SPORTSKEEDA. When asked about his pick as a surprise entrant for the event, Bill Apter said Chris Jericho.

Chris Jericho is currently with All Elite Wrestling which is trying to rival WWE across the USA. Bill Apter said, “For the male Royal Rumble? That would be Chris Jericho”. The former WWE champions left the company in 2018 and haven’t made any appearances for the Stamford-based company.

During John Cena’s 20^th anniversary with WWE, Chris Jericho appeared via recorded message to congratulate his former rival. Speaking about the former WWE champion, Jericho said he wasn’t surprised with CM Punk’s return to WWE.

Y2J while speaking to Chris Van Vliet said “I mean it doesn’t surprise me. It’s the Vince McMahon attitude that if you make money with someone bring them back. He brought back the NOW, he brought back Eric Bischoff”

Triple H recently spoke about becoming wiser and more mature and how things were different in WWE. The comments were made during the press conference after the Survivor Series came to a thrilling end.

Further speaking to Chris Van Vilet, this is what Jericho said “Yeah, and Vince isn’t in charge. But Triple H learned from Vince once again and the fans, keeping the fans entertained and happy man look, he came back and it was the highest viewed social media segment that they’ve ever had. So once right out of the gate, it was a benefit to them. So it didn’t surprise me”

While it is unlikely that Chris Jericho will be back in WWE early next year, the former champion may eventually be back one day.
