CM Punk returns to WWE after 10 year absence; ratings shoot up immediately

On Monday, November 27, 2023, American professional wrestler, CM Punk made his first appearance and made his WWE comeback after nine years. Before this, he was associated with All Elite Wrestling which is a rival company to WWE. Punk was crowned AEW Champion twice but his was an unceremonious exit as he was sacked for being involved in a backstage physical altercation with wrestler Jack Perry. Hence, Punk’s WWE return will be followed closely by fans and experts.

Known for having issues with various other players like Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns, Punk has also been involved in controversy with another WWE sensation, Kevin Owens. Owens was recently asked about Punk’s comeback to the arena. Owens said that things would be great if the 45-year-old had returned with a light mindset as he too was on that page. “I just wanna have fun at work. So if he has got that mindset, great,” he said at the time.

On this week’s episode of Monday Night RAW, Punk, along with another comeback man, Randy Orton, cut a promo in front of the WWE Universe. The promo featuring Punk felt like an unscripted one, which is a new thing as there has been heavy scripting in this line in the past.

“It looks like hell froze over. And when I mean hell froze over I mean this is me standing in a WWE ring on Monday Night Raw with a live microphone in my hand,” he said. He then acknowledged the love and support that fans showered him with despite his long absence before adding that he was back home, where he truly belongs. After walking out of the ring with his music playing in the background, Punk made a startling revelation to the camera. “I’m not here to make friends, I’m here to make money”, he claimed before breaking into a smile.
