‘This is the first time I’m seeing this in India’s history’ – Rashid Latif fears Team India is making a grave mistake

Former Pakistan player Rashid Latif said on his YouTube channel Caught Behind that he fears a grave mistake from Team India. He said that India is repeating the same mistake that Pakistan did earlier.

Team India has seen 7 captains leading the team in the past few months. Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Jasprit Bumrah, Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant, and Hardik Pandya have all been given opportunities to lead the Indian Cricket Team. Speaking on the same, Indian cricket board’s president Sourav Ganguly opined earlier that it was not right but they had no choice.

Former Pakistan player Rashid Latif has now said that he fears it as a grave mistake from Team India. He said that India is repeating the same mistake that Pakistan did earlier. Latif added that they need to find a way to come out of the mud.

“Everyone talks about backup. But they have now produced seven backup captains in the past year! This is the first time I’m seeing this in India’s history. Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Rishabh Pant, Jasprit Bumrah… they are repeating the same mistake as Pakistan’s in the 1990s,” Latif said on his YouTube channel.

He highlighted that India don’t have a proper top-order nor a stable middle order. Latif stressed that Team India must find a new captain that can follow the likes of Sourav Ganguly, MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli. He said that the sooner India find a captain, the better it is for the team.

“They haven’t found a solid opener, nor do they have a stable middle-order. They just want a new captain. No captain is playing consistently for them. KL Rahul is unfit now, Rohit was unfit before. Virat is mentally unfit. So, they will have to think about it. They are changing so many captains.. they need a leader like Sourav Ganguly, MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli,” Latif added.

Shikhar Dhawan to lead once again

Team India’s squad for the Zimbabwe tour has been announced. Rohit Sharma was rested as expected. Reports came out that the star batter Kohli had spoken to selectors and is expected to join for the Asia Cup. Washing Sundar has made a cut and Rahul Tripathi got his maiden ODI call up. Team India will play against Zimbabwe on August 18, 20 and 22 at Harare stadium.
