‘Photo kheech raha hoga’ – Fans troll Rohit Sharma for missing out on Indian T20 League captains’ photoshoot

The Indian T20 League 2023 is scheduled to begin on March 31 with Chennai and Gujarat clashing in the season opener.

The Indian T20 League 2023 is scheduled to begin on March 31. Before Gujarat’s match against Chennai, the tournament will have a big opening ceremony. Celebrities will perform for the public at the ceremony at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, the world’s largest cricket venue. The event will start in grand and gala fashion with music and dance before the fours and sixes.

After four long years, the tournament’s return to a home-and-away format means not all of the 10 teams’ captains will be present at the opening ceremony. But on Wednesday, all the captains convened in Ahmedabad for a required captain’s meeting. However, Rohit Sharma was absent from the meeting and the captains’ photoshoot afterwards.

Arijit Singh, Tamanaah Bhatia and Rashmika Mandanna among headliners for ITL opening

Hardik Pandya, the captain of the Gujarat franchise, and Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the captain of the Chennai franchise, will also be present for the opening ceremony during Friday’s first game. Popular singer Arijit Singh will perform in the opening ceremony, according to Sportstar. Tamannaah Bhatia, an actress, has been confirmed to appear in the ITL opening by the league’s official handles on social media.

The Indian Cricket Board is keeping quiet, but there is a rumour that Rashmika Mandanna and a few other artists have been asked to perform at the occasion. The Narendra Modi Stadium, the biggest cricket arena in the world, may also host a unique laser show. The opening ceremony is scheduled to occur before the opening game at 6 PM and lasts roughly 45 minutes.

According to league officials, the first game between Gujarat and Chennai is completely sold out. Gujarat will play a “home” game in front of their fans for the first time in history. The teams did play in Ahmedabad for the final the previous year, but it wasn’t a home game for the home team.

Gujarat shocked everyone in 2022 by winning the ITL title in their debut season, mostly thanks to the leadership of star allrounder Hardik Pandya. The star players Mohammed Shami, Rashid Khan, David Miller, and Rahul Tewatia played wonderful cricket.

On the other hand, the four-time champions Chennai, placed tenth in the competition, had a dismal campaign last time out as their captain Ravindra Jadeja fell short of expectations and handed over the responsibility to MS Dhoni. Although the team finished just above Mumbai in a poor season, it was too little, too late.

Here’s how fans reacted to Rohit Sharma’s absence in the captains’ photo:
