The Jammu and Kashmir cricketer was the first player from his state to get an Indian cap. The name Rasool inspired a lot of youngsters in his state to take up cricket. The All-rounder scored 5196 runs in 90 FC matches at a batting average of 37.9. With the ball, Rasool claimed 319 wickets at a bowling average of 27.4. The good numbers of Rasool impressed everyone.

India probably did not want another spin-bowling All-rounder, as the likes of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja were already on their way to establishing themselves in Indian cricket, especially in the longest format of the game. Rasool being another cricket with the same traits did not get many chances in the Indian team.

In Limited overs cricket, India continued to play Jadeja and Aswin. Even Amit Mishra continuously pushed the duo for excellence with his consistent performances in domestic cricket, IPL, and Indian cricket. In the process, Rasool did not get as many chances as he would have liked. Rasool played only 2 matches in international cricket.
