During the ongoing five-match Test series, former India skipper Virat Kohli’s absence has been a matter of discussion. Ahead of the series, he was granted a leave for personal reasons. However, during the first two Tests, former South Africa skipper AB de Villiers claimed that his second child was on its way.
“Yes, his second child is on the way. Yes, it’s family time and things are important to him. If you are not true and genuine to yourself, you lose track of what you are here for. I think most people’s priority is family. You can’t judge Virat for that. Yes, we miss him, but he has made the right decision,” he had earlier said on his YouTube channel.
However, recently, the former Royal Challengers Bangalore player retracted his statement and said that he shared false information.
“Family comes first and then Cricket. I made a terrible mistake on my YouTube channel. That information was wrong and not true at all. Virat has every right to take a break from national duties due to family reasons. I think whatever’s best for Virat’s family, comes first. No one knows what’s happening there, all I can do is wish him well. Whatever the reason for his break, I hope he can come back stronger, better, and fresh from this,” de Villiers told Dainik Bhaskar.
Notably, the former India skipper has been rested for the rest of the series as his leave has been extended.

The post, shared by Twitter user Abhishek Tripathi alleges, “Four things. A: What de Villiers said was right. Two: There are some problems due to which Virat decided to consult a doctor abroad and stay with the family. Third: He has decided to spend this time with his family after taking permission from the Indian Cricket Board. Fourth: We should wish them a happy future.”
