India and Australia locked horns again as the two sides battled it out in the second ODI at Vishakhapatnam. Australia won the toss and chose to bowl first. India were in for a big jolt as they kept losing wickets like flowing water. Mitchell Starc was at his menacing best as he breathed fire on the Indian top order with an inspired spell of bowling.

The Australia pace spearhead dismissed Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya before dismissing Mohammed Siraj. The Indians as is have struggled against left-arm pace in the past and today was no exception. Rohit got out to Starc after he chased a wide delivery outside the off stump. Shubman Gill played a rash shot and got out to the same bowler for a second-ball duck. Suryakumar Yadav was out lbw for nought to Starc as well.

Nathan Ellis picked up the wicket of Virat Kohli at Visakhapatnam

The left-arm pacer received great support as Sean Abbott came into the attack and dismissed Hardik Pandya for just 1 off 3 balls. Smith also orchestrated the dismissal by taking a leaping one-handed catch. KL Rahul was out lbw after the Karnataka batter scored 9 off 12 balls with just one four. Virat Kohli rode the storm as wickets continued to tumble around him. He tried to steer the ship India’s way, but the former India captain fell after scoring 31 off 35 balls with four fours. Nathan Ellis picked up Kohli.

Even in the first ODI, India lost the wickets of Ishan Kishan, Gill, Kohli and Suryakumar when they were chasing a target of 189 runs. India were reduced to 39-4. Things were looking very slippery at one stage, but Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja came together and calmed things down.

The duo put together a 150-run partnership for the sixth wicket for India. Rahul made an unbeaten 75 off91 balls with seven fours and one six. He found an able ally in Ravindra Jadeja, who played an unbeaten knock of 45 off 69 balls with five fours.  India had won the low-scoring match at Mumbai by 5 wickets.
