In a major shuffle in Indian domestic cricket, Hanuma Vihari, as per reports, is likely to play for Madhya Pradesh (MP) in the upcoming Indian domestic season. Vihari was also recently named skipper of the South Zone side, which will play in the Duleep Trophy starting on June 28 in Bengaluru. The Times of India, in its report, states that Vihari will play for the 2022 Ranji Champions instead of Andhra.
TOI further quoted a source saying, “Vihari and Kulwant Khejroliya will play for Madhya Pradesh in the upcoming season. This was decided at a selection committee meeting of the Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association on Monday, June 26. Along with Vihari, Delhi left-arm pacer, Kulwant Khejroliya has also decided to represent MP instead of Delhi in the upcoming Indian domestic season. Speaking further on the developing story Abhilash Khandekar the president of the Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association (MPCA), told TOI.

“Yes, we had a meeting of our selection committee today, but I don’t have the details. I’ll get back to you tomorrow.” The report further went in to say that Chandrakant Pandit will remain at the helm as coach of the MP side. Pandit coached MP to their first Ranji Title in 2022. He also recently was the head coach of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. Under his tutelage, KKR finished seventh on the points table.
They were without their regular captain Shreyas Iyer as he was ruled out due to injury. Nitish Rana led in his absence. KKR registered six wins and eight losses and ended the season with 12 points. With the likes of Vihari and Khejroliya joining Madhya Pradesh, it has been added star power ahead of the 2023 season. They would be looking to go all out and defend their Ranji Trophy title.
Meanwhile, when it comes to Vihari, this switching of bases could indicate that he is targeting a comeback to the Indian side. He is most famous for a rearguard effort in Sydney against Australia in 2021 where he partnered Ravichandran Ashwin to give India a famous draw against Australia at the Boarder-Gavaskar trophy. In other news Ravi Bishnoi will play for Gujarat instead of Rajasthan in the 2023 domestic season.
Vihari done all the hardwork in Overseas and they will drop him when to comes home series were he can easily stat padd some runs. Selectors will pick some random batters to stat padd at home. Vihari deserved better. His technic is very suitable for SA, ENG and Aus
