Rishabh Pant starts rehab in NCA Bengaluru, Instagram story goes viral

Rishabh Pant was involved in a horrific car crash in December last year and could miss out on the 2023 World Cup

Star Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant has begun his rehabilitation programme at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru after being sidelined since the beginning of the year due to multiple injuries he sustained in a potentially fatal car accident on the Delhi-Dehradun highway in the early hours of December 30, 2022. The 25-year-old wicketkeeper-batter, who last represented India in a two-match Test series against Bangladesh in December of last year, posted a photo from NCA with a fitness trainer and provided an update on his recovery plan on Instagram Stories.

He can be seen wearing safety equipment close to his knee in an image Pant posted on Tuesday night. The photo, which included a fitness instructor, was captioned “Top man #nca” by the user.

KL Rahul may fill in for Rishabh Pant if he misses out on World Cup 2023

Pant is out for a long time due to multiple injuries he sustained in the car accident. He has already left the Indian Premier League’s current season and is likely to skip the forthcoming ICC Men’s ODI World Cup. The men’s 50-over competition will be held in India in 2023, and games will be played there in 12 different locations throughout October and November.

India’s chances will suffer greatly from Pant’s absence because he is one of the best wicketkeeper-batsmen of the modern era and can win games independently. After entering the team to fill in for the injured Shikhar Dhawan, Pant also played in the 2019 50-over World Cup. If Pant cannot represent India at the ODI World Cup, KL Rahul will likely fill in as the wicketkeeper-batter.

Ishan Kishan was given the preference to keep the wickets in the three-match home series against Australia last month even though he was a member of the team, and he performed admirably as well. India may look up to people like Ishan and Sanju Samson, among other people. But in order for the pair to earn a spot in the Indian team, they must first perform well in the current IPL and then with the Indian team in whatever opportunities they may have.
