Dinesh Karthik announced a grand comeback to the Indian Team in 2022 as he scored 330 runs in 16 innings for the Bangalore franchise at an average of 55 and a strike rate of 183.33. This performance from the right-handed batter made people stand up and take notice of his finishing skills.

The last international match that Karthik had played before he announced himself in grand style with a comeback was in 2019. It was the semi-final of the World Cup against New Zealand. India crashed out of the ODI World Cup after they lost the game. Karthik did not have a good outing as he ended up scoring 6 off 25 balls.

The 37-year-old recently had an interaction with his fans on Twitter where the fans asked him some questions on the micro-blogging website. On #AskDK, one of the fans put out a screenshot of India’s scorecard from the 2019 World Cup semi-final match against the Kiwis, highlighting Karthik’s score and posted a question saying “One word about Ur goated inning in SF.”

Dinesh Karthik last played the 20-20 World Cup in 2o22 for India

Karthik gave it back to the Twitter user in a hilarious manner as he wrote: “Delete this right now”. Karthik came into the game when India were reeling at 5-3 after KL Rahul, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma were back in the pavilion, putting India in deep trouble on a crucial day.

In the game, the Tamil Nadu cricketer did not make a good account of himself as he failed to make an impact with the bat in the knockouts and India found themselves at the receiving end as they were chasing 240 runs, but they fell agonisingly short and ended at 221 all out. England had won the World Cup that year.

Karthik will again don the commentator’s hat in the upcoming India- Australia series for the Border- Gavaskar Trophy when the first match starts at Nagpur on February 9. In 2021 he signed a deal and was a commentator at Sky Sports for England along with the likes of Ian Ward and Nasser Hussain
