In the 38th match of the IPL 2023, the clash between PBKS and LSG turned out to be a one-sided affair. LSG won the toss and opted to bat first, but things didn’t start well for them as KL Rahul got out early on 12 off 9. However, what followed was an absolute masterclass from the LSG batters.

Kyle Mayers, who has been in good form this season, continued his good run with the bat as he made 54 off 24 with 7 fours and 4 sixes. Ayush Badoni also played a quickfire inning of 43 off 24 with 3 fours and 3 sixes. But it was Marcus Stoinis who stole the show with his explosive knock of 72 off 40 with 6 fours and 5 sixes. Nicholas Pooran also played a quickfire innings of 45 off 19 with 7 fours and 1 six. As a result, LSG made a mammoth total of 257/5, which is the second-highest total for a team in the history of IPL.

In reply, PBKS got off to a decent start, but they never looked in the game after losing wickets at regular intervals. Atharva Taide was the only shining light for PBKS as he made 66 off 36 with 8 fours and 2 sixes. Sikandar Raza also played a useful knock of 36 off 22, but it was not enough to take PBKS over the line. Liam Livingstone also made 23 off 14.

Yash Thakur was the highest wicket-taker for LSG as he took 4 wickets in 4 overs. Naveen Ul Haq also bowled well and picked up 3 wickets in 4 overs. The other bowlers also chipped in with wickets as LSG won the match by a huge margin of 56 runs.

Overall, it was a dominating performance from LSG as they outclassed PBKS in all departments of the game. With this win, LSG moved to the top of the table, while PBKS remained at the bottom.
