Harmanpreet Kaur got the Thor out and unleashed her fury on the England bowlers right through the series. She had been in scintillating form throughout the series and led from the front by scoring the runs against England. Her heroics helped India register a famous 3-0 series clean-sweep against England.

Yesterday was a night where emotions were riding on the roof because it was the final game of Jhulan Goswami for India. Harmanpreet Kaur had said that whatever India were going to do in the series was for Goswami and they did not disappoint. The Indian team were on top of England in all three matches.

Deepti Sharma ended up stealing some of the limelight from Jhulan Goswami as she pulled off a mankad run-out to send Charlotte Dean back and it got the cricket fraternity and social media divided. However, that run out gave India a famous win and also made it a superb farewell game for Jhulan Goswami. Following the win, Harmanpreet Kaur was crying and hugging Jhulan Goswami when she came along with her for the toss.

She really wanted to do something special for the veteran India fast bowler in her farewell series and she succeeded. At the post match presentation she talked about the mankad incident and said that she completely back what Deepti did as it was within the rules.

“I thought you will ask about the first nine wickets because they were also not easy to take. I don’t think we have done something new. What I feel is that shows your awareness of what the batters are doing. I will back my player because I don’t think she has done something which is not in the ICC rules.”

Jhulan Goswami has been my pillar of support – Harmanpreet Kaur

She also lauded Jhulan Goswami’s contribution in women’s cricket and thanked her for being a pillar of support. She said,

“When I debuted, she was a leader. Before the game I just told her that whenever I was going through my best time many people supported me. But doing my rough times she was the only one always supporting me.”

“I just wanted to thank her. She’ll always be there for us. She’s just a call away. We’re really thankful that we got a chance to play with her. She is my go-to person. During my low time I would always discuss what to do and she was always guiding me,” she added.
