The Big Bash League 2022/23 (BBL 12) is ongoing and the teams are giving it their all to win the tournament, given that it is one of the most highly-competitive contests in the world. In Match 23 of the tournament on December 31, Saturday, Melbourne Stars faced off against Adelaide Strikers and the former toyed with the Strikers’ bowlers in the first innings.
While there were many moments to take away from the innings, a cheeky banter between Rashid Khan and Marcus Stoinis during the 13th over turned out to be the most hilarious moment in the game. To add more, during the fifth delivery of the over, Rashid bowled a stupendous delivery that almost got the batter of the Australian allrounder.
Baffled by the fact that it did not dislodge the bails and was rather tackled by Stoinis, a mic’d up Rashid was caught saying about the ball and that the allrounder must have left the ball instead. “Oh my goodness, how did he do that? Oh Stoini (Stoinis), should have left that,” the spinner was caught saying after the ball.

To comment more about the match, post opting to bat first, the Stars got off to a great start on the back of a well-made 42 from opener Joe Clarke and 24-ball 30 from Tom Rogers. However, it was Stoinis who pushed the team’s total to 186 at the end of the first innings with his quickfire 74 off just 35 balls.
Given that the Stars have just won 1 game out of the five that they have played in the tournament so far, the Strikers would look to bank on the lack of momentum with the opposition and win the game, although one has to agree that the Stars boast a fiery pace attack. If at all the Stars manage to pull off a win by defending the mammoth total, it would go down as a turning point in their ongoing campaign, eventually helping them to turn things around in the upcoming games.
