Bangalore will play Mumbai on April 2. Ahead of the game, a meeting between two sporting icons of India happened. Captain of the Indian national football team Sunil Chhetri came to M Chinnaswamy Stadium to meet Virat Kohli and the rest of the Bangalore franchise. He came in and fielded for some time. The Indian football captain looked sharp on the field. He had brief chats with the players and coaching staff.

Chhetri then had a long chat with Virat Kohli and the two were having some banter together. The football captain then met Ishan Kishan and interacted with him. Chhetri then talked about his love for Bangalore. The football star also plays for Bangalore-based Bengaluru FC in the Indian Super League (ISL). This is not the first time Chhetri has met the Bangalore side. He had met the side a few years earlier at the Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Can Bangalore break the duck this season?

Bangalore have not been able to win a trophy in the Indian T20 League. The Bold Army has made it to three finals. Bangalore have also made it to the playoffs in the last three seasons. The Faf du Plessis-led side have brought Recce Topley in the 2022 auction and also have replaced Will Jacks with Michael Bracewell as he was ruled out of the tournament due to injury.

Bangalore have been hit by a few injury concerns. Josh Hazelwood will reportedly miss the first seven matches. Rajat Patidar is down with a heel injury. He has not got clearance to play from the National Cricket Academy. Wanindu Hasaranga will also miss a few initial matches as he is playing for Sri Lanka. The absence of the Sri Lankan spin ace has left a gaping hole in Bangalore’s spin department.

Mumbai have also been hit with injuries. Jasprit Bumrah is ruled out of the Indian T20 League. The franchise replaced him with Sandeep Warrier. The 31-year-old has played for Kerala and Tamil Nadu. Jhye Richardson has also been ruled out due to injury. Mumbai’s batting looks strong but the bowling looks inexperienced. The return of Jofra Archer will bolster the side.
