India and Pakistan are locking horns in their Asia Cup 2023 Super Four fixture in Colombo.

The big Asia Cup 2023 clash between India and Pakistan saw both teams display some amazing cricket. India started with Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill running away with the game. Shadab Khan and Shaheen Shah Afridi then got the Pakistani team back into the game with quick wickets. The rain came down to halt the proceedings in the 25th over.

India was put into bat after Babar Azam won the toss. Pakistan went in with the same team. India made two changes to the playing XI, Jasprit Bumrah came in for Mohammad Sham. KL Rahul made his comeback to the Indian team as he replaced Shreyas Iyer who had got injured before the game. Virat Kohli had taken a single off the first ball of the 25th over which was bowled by Shadab Khan. That’s when the rain gods came down as the match was halted for a long time. Just as the rain came down, the ground staff were seen running in with the covers. Pakistani opener Fakhar Zaman was seen helping them pull the covers.

Indian openers Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill added 121 runs for the 1st wicket in just 16.4 overs. The Indian team and its top 3 was under pressure after failing in the last game. Rohit Sharma after a watchful start, started going after Shaheen Shah Afridi and Naseem Shah. Rohit hit a six and a four to signal his intentions early on.

Shubman Gill was dropped on zero and he made most of the chance given to him. The 24-year-old hit Afridi for three fours in two consecutive overs. The Indian opener scored his eighth ODI half-century as he mixed timing with brute power. Rohit Sharma scored his 50th half-century as he began to assert himself over the Pakistani bowlers. Rohit hit 6 fours and 4 sixes in his knock of 56 runs off 49 balls. The Indian captain gave special treatment to Shadab Khan hitting him all over the park.

The Pakistani bowler had the last laugh when he got the wicket of Rohit Sharma caught well by Faheem Ashraf. Shubman Gill was out the next over when he was foxed by Afridi with a slower ball. Gill fell for 58 off 52 balls with 10 fours. When the rain came down, Kohli was not out on 8 along with KL Rahul who was not out on 17.
