Asian Cricket Council Women’s Emerging Team’s Cup- Match Report

Pakistan vs Nepal: Mong Kok Stadium 

The third match of the Asia Cricket Council Women’s Emerging Team’s Cup took place at Mong Kok Stadium in Hong Kong. Nepal won the toss and elected to bowl first. The Pakistan batters did not put up a good show as they were put under pressure by the Nepal bowlers. Shawaal Zulfiqar was the best batter for the side as she scored 28 off 36 balls with one four. There was not much to write about for the other Pakistan batters.

For Nepal, Indu Barna picked up three wickets and was the pick of the bowlers. She received good support from the others. Kabita Kunavar, Kabita Joshi, and Sita Rana Nagar picked up two wickets from their respective spells. Pakistan was kept under check and could score 97 in 19.2 overs. In the second innings, it was the same story as Pakistan bowlers put pressure on the Nepalese batters and did not allow them to break free. Kunawar made 20 off 32 balls with two fours for Nepal at the top of the order. The second best was Joshi who made 15 off 17 balls with one four.

In the end, Nepal was kept down to 78-6 in their 20 overs as Pakistan earned a close win by 9 runs. The games so far have been closely fought in what has been a very open tournament. The multilateral tournament has had some great bowling performances on the show so far.

Hong Kong vs India: Mong Kok Stadium 

After the game between Pakistan and Nepal, Hong Kong and India locked horns. This was a one-sided game in comparison to the previous encounters. The coin went in favour of India as they chose to field first. Hong Kong was blown away by the Karnataka sensation Shreyanka Patil who picked up match-dominating figures of 5 for 2 in her three-over spell. Prashasvi Chopra and Mannat Kashyap picked up two wickets each from their respective spells.

Due to the incredible bowling effort, Hong Kong was bowled out for 34 in just 14 overs. In the second innings, India chased down the target of 35 like a breeze as they did it in 5.2 overs for the loss of just one wicket. U Chetry was unbeaten on 16 off 15 balls with two fours and Gongadi Trisha was unbeaten on 19 off 13 balls with two fours and one six to see India through.
