The Afghanistan skipper was a pale shade of his regular self in the Asia Cup 2022. He did not deliver with the bat, failing to play those game-changing knocks that he is known for. He was also unable to initiate consistent breakthroughs with the ball in hand as well.
In the 5 matches that he played, he just scored 16 runs with the bat, with the highest score of 8 to his name and with a lukewarm batting average of 4. He only picked up 3 wickets in a total of 5 matches. The runs also dried up from his blade and he was not able to score them.
