The Womenโ€™s T20 League kicked off on a wonderful note as three high-intensity games have been played so far. The games have taken place at DY Patil Stadium and Brabourne. In the Womenโ€™sT20 League, the players can challenge no-ball calls and wide calls via reviews as well. Now, reports have come in that the same will be used in the Indian T20 League.

In the Womenโ€™s T20 League, there have been instances of players using the reviews for checking wide. In the first game, Harmanpreet Kaur challenged a wide call in the 13th over of the Gujarat innings and got the call in her favour. But that call did not make a big impact in the game as Gujarat were all out for 64 and Mumbai won by 143 runs.

It is for the first time in an official game, a law has been created so that the players/captains could legally question an umpire’s call for a no-ball or a wide ball. Earlier, such challenges were reserved for only dismissals. “This has been included in the playing conditions so that the tight games are not decided by a wrong call,” an Indian Cricket Board official said.

Grace Harris helped UP upset Gujarat by a stunning knock in WPL

In the game against UP and Gujarat, there were two instances where a wide was reviewed. The first one was reviewed by Sneh Rana on the second ball of the 19th over, which was checked by the umpire and still deemed a wide because the ball did not fall inside the marker.

The other instance happened on the fourth ball of the same over. But this time, Grace Harris, the batter asked for a review. It was not called wide initially but it was deemed wide after the third umpire checked it. The game between UP and Gujrat was a nail-biter and Harris helped UP overhaul a target of 169-6 from an unlikely position of 105-7 when UP were in dire straits.

Harris played an out-of-the-world innings of 59 off 26 balls with seven fours and three sixes. Kiran Navgire made 53 off 43 balls, with five fours and two sixes. The game was won by the last ball with Harris hitting the winning six.
