In the 33rd match of the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023, India beat Sri Lanka by 302 runs to qualify for the semifinals. Rohit Sharma-led India became the first team to qualify for the semifinals in the ongoing tournament. After a great batting display at batting paradise in Wankhede Stadium, the Indian pacers launched absolute carnage in the Sri Lankan batting line-up.

In an absolute repeat of the ODI Asia Cup 2023 finals, Indian bowlers outplayed Sri Lanka in every aspect. Chasing a massive total of 357/8, Sri Lanka had the worst possible start. Pacer Jasprit Bumrah dismissed opener Pathum Nissanka for a golden duck. In the very next over, Mohammad Siraj clinched two more wickets, dismissing Dimuth Karunaratne and Sadeera Samrawickrama for a duck too.

In his second over, Siraj continued his dream run as he dismissed Sri Lanka skipper Kusal Mendis for a mere 1 run. However, after that, in the next six overs, Sri Lanka batters Angelo Mathews and Charith Aslanka added 11 runs. Meanwhile, in the 10th over, skipper Rohit Sharma made his first bowling change as he replaced Bumrah with Mohammed Shami.
