India and Australia locked horns in the second game of the three-match T20I series in Nagpur. The game was marred by rains and wet patches in the outfield for more than two hours. After a long wait, the umpires decided to stage an eight-over-a-side contest. The home team won the toss and elected to bowl first. They decided to leave out Umesh Yadav for Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar for Rishabh Pant.
On the other hand, the Aussies had a forced change in the form of Nathan Ellis, who got injured. he was replaced by Daniel Sams. Also, Sean Abbott replaced Josh Inglis. Batting first, the Yellow Brigade lost the wicket of Cameron Green (5) as he got run-out in the second over. In the same over, Glenn Maxwell (0) was cleaned up by Axar Patel. At the end of the two-over powerplay, the team scored 19/2.
Tim David (2) became the second victim of Patel. Aaron Finch (31 off 15) started off well but missed a brilliant yorker from Jasprit Bumrah. This left the team tottering at 46/4 after five overs. Thanks to Matthew Wade (43* off 20), the team scored 90/5 at the end of the innings.
India chased down the total to level the series 1-1
In reply, the Men In Blue had a great start as openers Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul scored 30 runs in the first two overs (powerplay). In the next three overs, leggie Adam Zampa took the wickets of Rahul (10), Virat Kohli (11), and Suryakumar Yadav (0). These wickets created a little bit of a problem although they had their noses ahead.
Skipper Rohit Sharma (46* off 20) and all-rounder Hardik Pandya (14) took the team close with boundaries at the right moments. The latter got out to a slower short ball from Pat Cummins. However, the team was still close to the target thanks to their batting in the powerplay. They chased down the total in 8.2 overs with Dinesh Karthik hitting a six and a four in the last over to finish the game. India won by six wickets.
