Harbhajan Singh has his take on the future of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in T20Is. The two senior batters have not played a T20I match for India in more than 13 months. The absence of the senior batters has been a big question mark among the fans, particularly in the lead-up to the T20 World Cup 2024. The tournament will be played in June next year.

There is not much time left for the T20I tournament to begin. Hence, fans are demanding India recall its cricketers as soon as possible. India is set to play only one T20I series, against Afghanistan, before the T20 World Cup 2024. Many former cricketers and experts are giving their opinions on the future of the two batters in the shortest format of the game.

Harbhajan Singh has given his opinion on the same. The former Indian cricketer felt that both Virat and Rohit should be in India’s squad for the T20 World Cup 2024. Singh batted for the two and felt that a good combination is possible only with the right mix of youth and experience. Harbhajan added that the two batters have a lot of mettle in them.

“I think both Virat (Kohli) and Rohit (Sharma) should be there in the World Cup…I think a good combination would be possible only when you have good senior players too with the youth. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have a lot of mettle in them…I think they should play,” said Harbhajan. The two cricketers gave their everything in the recently concluded ODI World Cup 2023.

The seniors are expected to do the job for the Indian team every time they bat in the middle. After the end of the ODI World Cup 2023, the two players have taken some rest. For the T20I series against Australia and South Africa, the two batters opted to stay out, as they chose to spend some time with their family. IPL 2024 would be crucial for both the cricketers for their place in the T20 World Cup squad 2024.
