In the 5th match of the Women’s Big Bash League 2023, Brisbane Heat women beat Perth Scorchers women by 50 runs. Star opener Grace Harris shined with the bat for Brisbane as she hammered the highest individual score in WBBL history. In her amazing batting knock, Harris scored 136 runs off 59 balls with the help of 12 fours and 11 sixes and remained unbeaten.

However, one of her six displayed her sheer dedication and power-hitting abilities. During the 14th over of the game, Harris was informed by Perth wicketkeeper-batter Beth Mooney that her bat was broken. Harris responded and said, “I’ll still hit a six.” On the very next delivery, Harris did the same and smoked a magnificent six over the mid-wicket. However, while doing that, her bat got split into two parts.

It’s worth noting that Harris went all out against Perth in the game and broke some unique records. She smashed the highest individual score in the history of the Women’s Big Bash League. Her amazing batting performance helped the Brisbane Heat post a massive total of 229/7 in 20 overs. It’s also the second-highest team total in the history of the tournament.

In response, the Perth Scorchers got a flying start as opener Lauren Winfield-Hill, along with Beth Mooney, added 63 runs for the first wicket. Lauren, in her innings, scored 14 runs, while Mooney smacked a brilliant half-century. Mooney, in her innings, scored 60 runs off 30 balls with the help of six fours and four sixes. However, due to a lack of support from other batters and a brilliant bowling performance from Brisbane, Perth failed to chase the target.

The team fell 50 runs short of the target as they finished their innings at 179/8 in 20 overs. For Brisbane, Courtney Sippel clinched four wickets, while Jess Jonnasen got two wickets. Meanwhile, Georgia Voll and Grace Harris also got a wicket each. However, for her amazing batting performance, Grace Harris received the Player of the Match award.
