Umran Malik has been making heads roll with his raw pace and speed. In the first ODI against Sri Lanka, he recorded figures of 3-57 in his eight overs as India won the match by 67 runs. He again broke a record with his speed by bowling a 156 kph delivery which broke the record that he had set earlier. This would have become the fastest delivery by an Indian in ODIs.

But the record might not go under his name because the Hindi and English broadcasters ruined the moment by creating doubt about the delivery. After all, different results were shown for the same delivery. The Hindi broadcast showed the delivery at 156 kph but the English broadcast showed the ball at 145 kph. Umran bowled the so-called record ball in the 14th over when Sri Lanka were chasing which was the fourth ball in his second over.

Umran bowled the fastest ball by an Indian in T20I series against Sri Lanka

It was a full ball which was pitched right up to the bat which Asalanka drove for two runs through the cover region. This fiasco by the broadcasters added to the unsureness of the speed of the ball which was bowled by Umran. If the record is true, then he will be the only Indian to hold the milestone of having the fastest ball bowled by an Indian in T20s, ODIs and the Indian T20 League.

In T20Is he has recorded a 155 kph ball which he achieved in the T20I series against Sri Lanka. In the Indian T20 League, he bowled a 157 kph ball against the Mumbai franchise. During his time with Hyderabad in the Indian T20 League, he used to take a lot of awards for bowling the fastest ball of the match in the Indian T20 League because of his incredible speed.

“I have played 6 games, I just want to bowl well and in the right areas. The wicket was flat, I spoke with Siraj bhai, Shami bhai, and the input was to make the most of my pace. I want to be as accurate as possible,” He said after India beat Sri Lanka in the first ODI.
