Tennis legend Roger Federer played his last competitive in the ongoing Laver Cup 2022 game against Frances Tiafoe and Jack Sock of Team World. He was paired with long-time rival, Rafael Nadal. Ahead of the tournament, the former announced his retirement from the game after the ongoing tournament. He lost the game 4-6, 7-6 (2), 11-9 which lasted for around two hours.
Talking about the tournament, it was founded by his management company. After Roger’s final game ended, he hugged Nadal, then Tiafoe and Sock and started crying. Nadal also cried alongside Federer and the video of this moment has gone viral on social media. The video was uploaded on the Twitter handle of the tournament. This marked the end of what was nearly a quarter-century-long career.

After the game, he said that it was a perfect journey and would love to do it all over again. The 20-time Grand Slam winner added that he enjoyed every moment of the day including the match.
“It’s been a perfect journey,” Federer said. “I would do it all over again.”
“It’s been a wonderful day. I told the guys I’m happy; I’m not sad,” Federer said. “I enjoyed tying my shoes one more time. Everything was the last time.”
On the other hand, Nadal said that when a player like Federer leaves, it feels like an important part is missing.
“When Roger leaves the tour, an important part of my life is leaving, too,” said Nadal, 36, who used the words “sad” and “unforgettable” to describe the occasion.
Jack Sock, Federer’s opponent during the game said it was fun to be part of the game even though most of the crowd was cheering for the latter.
“Obviously had 99.9% of the crowd against us. But it was super fun to just be a part of that match. I think we are going to be forever grateful to be a part of the GOAT’s final match,” Sock said, using the acronym for greatest of all time.
