‘I’ve never seen anyone like him’ – John McEnroe showers praise on Rafael Nadal

Former Tennis Legend John McEnroe has heaped praise on current great Rafael Nadal and has said that Nadal is one of the greatest ever to have played the sport of Tennis. He added that youngsters should look to Rafael Nadal to understand why he is a great epitome of the Tennis circuit. McEnroe has said that youngsters need to look at the Spanish player so that they understand the true meaning of what it takes to be a champion in a high-octane sport like Tennis.

Rafael Nadal has demonstrated an incredible amount of fortitude, grit and determination in his career. Rafael Nadal is a person who gives a tough fight to anyone and is not one who will back down from giving a fight easily. He will also not back out of a fight and he will do so only after he has given his hundred per cent in the match.

Rafael Nadal has the knack for outperforming his contemporaries in the sport of tennis and he has demonstrated this with aplomb over many years and across many tournaments over a long glorified career in the sport of tennis. He has the tenacity and is gutsy all the time. He can rule the roost on a clay court and is equally competitive with others.

“I’ve never seen anyone like him,” McEnroe told Tennis365 in an exclusive interview. I thought Jimmy Connors tried hard until I saw Rafael Nadal, this is insane. And that’s the greatest quality he has, by far,” McEnroe said.

“I mean, the guy’s an unbelievable player, we all know that. But the fact that he can go out there and give that type of effort, you know, match in and match out, game in and game out, is something that people aspire to, but it’s very difficult to do.

“Otherwise, everyone would do it. I mean, you just say, well go to Nick Kyrgios and say ‘go out and give an effort, you’ll be No 2, No 3 in the world. Well, if it was that easy, I guess he would do it. But you know, for him, it isn’t”, he added.
