Controversy seems to be following Naveen-ul-Haq everywhere. Naveen got involved into another fracas with the crowd at Kolkata. He was mocked brutally with chants of Kohli Kohli by the vociferous Kolkata crowd who went behind Naveen with all their might. In retaliation, Naveen did what Gautam Gambhir had done at Bangalore. He put a finger on his lips and tried to shush the crowd.

The incident took place in the second over of the Kolkata Knight Riders run chase. Krunal Pandya asked Naveen to bowl with the new ball. The Afghan international ran in and his first ball was a short one outside off. Roy could not get any bat on that. But he more than made it up for the next delivery as he tonked the bowler for four. He stepped out and smashed the ball over mid on for a four. The Englishmam did way better off the third delivery.

He hit a straight six which went 81 meters and then he finished things off with a four towards the backward point fence. When Roy was tearing into Naveen, the Kolkata crowd added more fuel to the fire when they broke into loud and thunderous chants of “Kohli Kohli”. The chants reverberated throughout the Eden Gardens and it felt more louder as compared to the chants in Hyderabad at LSG or what their home crowd did against Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Naveen did not have a good outing with the ball against KKR. The Afghan pacer was hit to all parts by the KKR batters. This specifically included Jason Roy and Rinku Singh. He conceded 46 runs in his four overs. Naveen has some games remaining in the IPL 2023 as LSG beat KKR by one run and have made it to the playoffs for the second time running in two seasons. LSG had made it to the top four in 2022. But they were vanquished by RCB in the eliminator due to a stunning hundred by Rajat Patidar.
