The decision to replace Rohit Sharma as the skipper of Mumbai Indians hasn’t gone down well with the fans. There has been a massive outrage over the move, as many fans have expressed their opinion and rage on social media.
Hardik Pandya has been named as the new skipper ahead of the IPL 2024 season. The 30-year-old, has just made his come back to the side after spending two years with Gujarat Titans.
On 26th November, Mumbai and Gujarat finalized their trade for INR 15 Crores. Star All-rounder Cameron Green was traded to RCB to fund the move for Hardik Pandya.

Mumbai Indians on Friday announced to the world that Rohit Sharma was to be replaced as the skipper for the coming season. Mahela Jayawardene had announced that Hardik Pandya has been named the new captain of the side.
Many fans aren’t happy with the move to appoint Hardik Pandya as the new skipper of the side. As per ardent Mumbai Indians fans it is an insult to Rohit Sharma after all the years of hardwork he has done for the team.
A Mumbai Indian fan took to Twitter to post a video of himself by burning the jersey. The caption of the video was “You Deserve This” while tagging the official Twitter handle of the five-time IPL winners.
Former Lankan skipper Mahela Jayawardene is working with MI as the Global Head for the performance. While speaking to the Hindustan Times, the 48-year-old said “It is part of legacy building and staying true to the MI philosophy of being future-ready”
Rohit Sharma with his astute leadership has made Mumbai Indians a very strong team. The 36-year-old had taken over from Ricky Ponting, who has won five titles and led them with great distinction.
One is yet to witness what the future course of action will be as Mumbai Indians are yet to comment on the issue. Even, Rohit Sharma is yet to make an official comment on the issue. The 36-year-old has been stoically silent ever since the news broke out on Friday evening.
