WATCH: Mix-up between Ravindra Jadeja and Sarfaraz Khan that led to debutant’s unfortunate run-out

Ravindra Jadeja scored 110 runs from 112 balls and remains unbeaten at the end of Day 1.

Ravindra Jadeja smashed his 4th Test century while batting against England in the third Test match in Rajkot. Ravindra Jadeja came to bat at No.5 due to India’s inexperienced batting line-up. India got a shock at the start as they were 33 for 3 wickets. Ravindra Jadeja and captain Rohit Sharma put on a solid start to steady the ship.

Jadeja completed his century on Day 1 of the third Test match. Ravindra Jadeja scored 110 runs from 112 balls and remains unbeaten at the end of Day 1.  On his way to a century, he has smashed 9 fours and 2 sixes. He came to bat in the first hour of the game and managed the fierce spell of Mark Wood and James Anderson. This hundred also marks his 1st Test century at No.5 position for India.

As both got settled on the crease, they started to counterattack England’s pace attack. They put on a partnership of 204 runs for the fourth wicket as Rohit Sharma scored 114 runs from 176 balls and Ravindra Jadeja scored 84 runs from 153 balls.

His century marked Ravindra Jadeja’s first Test hundred in one and a half years. His last Test hundred came in 2022 against England in Birmingham. Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja put a total of 400+ runs in the first innings.

A mix-up between Ravindra Jadeja and Sarfaraz Khan led run-out

As Mark Wood dismissed Rohit Sharma, debutant Sarfaraz Khan walked in. Sarfaraz Khan showed an aggressive style of batting from the start as he scored his half-century from just 48 balls. He also tied the record of Hardik Pandya to hit the fastest fifty by an Indian batter on his Test debut.

As Ravindra Jadeja was batting on 99 a mix-up between him and Sarfaraz Khan led up to lose the wicket of Sarfaraz Khan. Ravindra Jadeja decided to run before sending Sarfaraz Khan back this resulted in him getting run out by Mark Wood’s direct throw. As Sarfaraz Khan was run out due to a wrong call Rohit Sharma seemed frustrated in the dressing room.

The very next ball Ravindra Jadeja hit in the gap and completed his hundred.
