Caribbean Premier League 2023 restarted after a short break with the game between Trinbago Knight Riders and Barbados Royals. The game was played at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown Barbados. The visiting Knight Riders side had played 3 games with three points on the board. Royals too had the same amount of points from the same amount of games played.

Rovman Powell the Royals skipper won the toss and chose to bowl first. The star with the bat for Trinbago Knight Riders was none other than Martin Guptill. The 36-year-old New Zealand batter has been out of favour for a while. The right-hander showed his class during the game which was played on Wednesday with a sizzling century.

Put into bat, Martin Guptill and Mark Deyal opened the batting for the Knight Riders. The pair added 41 for the opening stand in 5.2 overs. Deyal was out for 27 off 19 balls with 2 fours and 2 sixes. Nicolas Pooran was out for 6 when he fell to Qais Ahmed.

Skipper Kieron Pollard then joined Guptill as the pair added 108 runs for the third wicket. Guptill scored his century off 58 balls with just one four and 9 massive sixes. The Kiwi right-hander was severe on each of the Barbados bowlers.

Guptill took centre stage as even Kieron Pollard was seen looking like a pedestrian. This was the 6th T20 century for Martin Guptill in his 327th game. Pollard scored 46 with one four and 4 sixes as Knight Riders ended the innings at 194. Martin Guptill carried his bat to be not out on 100.

Jason Holder (14) Rovman Powell and Qais Ahmed (10) were the only batters who managed to reach double figures. Barbados were all out for a paltry 61 in the 13th over as Knight Riders won the game by 133 runs.

Waqar Salamkheil with 4/14 was the star with the ball along with Russell’s 3 wickets. Sunil Narine picked 1 wicket while Akeal Hossein picked 2 wickets. The massive took Knight Riders to third place in the table while Royals were occupying the 5th place.
