England player Ben Stokes is one of the best fielders in the modern game. The 31-year-old has saved innumerable runs in crunch situations and helped his bowlers put pressure on the opposition team.
Even if the all-rounder has a bad day with bat and ball, he makes up for it with his sensational fielding. It is never that fans expect a fumble from him but that is what happened against India when England faced the Rohit Sharma-led side in the 20-20 World Cup semi-final.
On the fifth ball of the 19th over Hardik Pandya hit a shot on the deep square leg which was expected to be easily collected by Stokes. To everyone’s surprise, however, the England player not just fails to collect the ball but fumbles it onto the boundary line.
As a result of it, India and Pandya earn 4 runs and it takes Pandya’s individual score to 52. The Indian batter played a sensational inning of 63 off of 33 to take India past 160. Pandya got out on the very last ball of the match after getting hit wicket while playing a shot on the on side.
Earlier Virat Kohli had also played a half-inning knock of 50 off of 40 balls and brought India out of early wicket misery after KL Rahul failed yet again. The opener got himself out in just the second over at a score of 5 runs in 5 balls to leave India in a limbo.
In the first inning, India posted a score of 168/6 in 20 overs thanks to half-centuries from Kohli and Pandya. Suryakumar Yadav had an off day as well as he got out at just 14 runs.
India has a chance to get into the final and play against Pakistan in the 20-20 World Cup. Pakistan have already moved into the final after defeating New Zealand in their semi-final clash. The winner of the India- England match will face Pakistan in the final on November
