A moment of brilliance took place in the second innings when Glenn Philips took a stunning catch off the bowling of Santner. Marcus Stoinis was looking to go over cover with the drive, he chipped it in the air. Philips ran across from the deep threw himself at the ball and then took an absolute screamer. He also saw that the ball did not pop out as he hit the turf.
Australia lost quick wickets at regular intervals with Trent Boult picking up 2 wickets and Tim Southee picking up 3 wickets. Lockie Ferguson and Ish Sodhi picked up a wicket each and Santner who was the pick of the bowlers got 3 wickets for 31 from his four-over spell. This gave New Zealand a mammoth 89-run win.
