The World Cup schedule appears to be in a never-ending muddle as the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) becomes the third one to raise objections with regard to the World Cup schedule.  The HCA said that it would be able to host two back-to-back games and also provide security for the same. Due to tweaks in the World Cup schedule. The HCA are in a quandary as they will have to host two games. New Zealand vs Netherlands on October 9 and Pakistan vs Sri Lanka on October 9.

According to a report by ESPNcricinfo, the HCA has sounded the alarm bells to the Indian Cricket Board saying that it would be next to impossible for them to provide security for two consecutive World Cup games. The Indian Cricket Board said that it will look into the matter and give a reply. The HCA is currently being run by an administrator who is appointed by the Supreme Court. The HCA is racking its brains as to whether it can provide ample security to all four teams involved.

We are engaging with security agencies to see whether it is possible to host by back to back games- Hyderabad Cricket Association official

The HCA have their hands tied behind their backs at the moment. In case no further alterations are possible in the World Cup schedule then they have to bring more personnel to ensure proper arrangements are being made in this scenario. Nine matches had to be changed in the World Cup schedule. The marquee clash between India and Pakistan was pushed ahead by a day from October 15 to 14. In a domino effect, the Pakistan- Sri Lanka game had to be shifted from October 12 to 10 so that Pakistan get a breather ahead of the India clash.

“I can’t say it would be changed for sure but back-to-back games are not ideal. I mean if they (BCCI) are reconsidering that will be well in good. We will have to work with security agencies. An HCA official said. “Anyone would want a day in between two World Cup games. We are still engaging with security agencies to see if it is possible or not. At the same time, we are also keeping BCCI in the loop. The BCCI is completely aware of what we are trying to do,” The official added.
