The 9th match of the Caribbean Premier League 2022 took place at the Darren Sammy National Cricket Stadium in St Lucia. The Toss was won by the St Lucia Kings, and they elected to bowl first.

The Jamaica Tallawahs got off to a poor start. Brendon King was run out due to a sharp throw from Jeavor Royal after scoring 19. Kennar Lewis was bowled by Kuggelein, for just 19. Shortly after, Samarh Brooks got a first ball duck to Jeavor Royal. Rovman Powell, the skipper, came and went for only 7 and was dismissed by Alazari Joseph.

Reifer was the only one who hung in there, scoring a cracking 62 of 41 deliveries which gave a bit of breathing space to the Tallawahs. His innings consisted of 4 fours and 4 sixes. Imad Wasim provided some support with a handy 20 but Kuggelein eventually dismissed him

None of the others got going as David Wiese picked up 2 quick wickets, in the end, to derail the Talawahs further. A target of 164 was not going to be a tough one for the Tallawahs, but they almost made an absolute meal of the chase.

Jhonson Charles provided the perfect start for the kings, scoring 62 from just 39 balls, with 4 fours and 4 sixes. Dickwella departed early to Amir, who sent back Faf Du Plessis soon after. Chris Green and Imad Wasim put the brakes on the runs by picking up 3 wickets between them.

At 75-5 when it could have been anyone’s game, Vital contributions from Tim David, Roshon Primus and David Wiese brought the score to 114-6 and then to 143-7. St Lucia got to the target in the end with Alzarri Joseph and Scott Kuggelein hitting the big shots and making sure there were no hiccups on the way to the target of 164.
